Default Landlocked Atlantics of the Great lakes

How healthy are the populations of Landlocked Atlantics in the great lakes? Does anyone target these fish and catch them with any consistency? I realize with all of the other great fishing for much larger fish that they probably dont get as much attention. I just think they are a great fish and the fact that they spawn over and over again potentially with out dying is a nice trait. I see pictures of them now and then on some of the sites but not with any real consistency. I know that you are all probably thinking that this guy from VT is chasing minnows when there are 30 and 40 lb fish to be had. But it sounds like it would be fun to try and find and catch some of those huge landlocks in the great lakes.
