SLASHER - Rotating flasher

The Stinger Slahser is the newest addition to our product line and certainly we are very excited about it.  Results from our experience fishing the "Slasher" last year during it's development were nothing less than spectacular!  Most days running a couple of Slashers in the spread ahead of similarly colored Stinger Fly's produced not only an unusually high percentage of Kings, but the largest Kings of the day also.

One word of caution, however, the results we enjoyed were attributable to the fact that we KNEW HOW TO FISH IT!  The Slasher is fished differently than other rotating flashers that you may be presently  using.  The main point to keep in mind is that the further you drop the Slasher behind your downrigger the larger the diameter of the circle it will make.  For instance, on a 10 foot lead the diameter of the circle the Slasher makes will be approximately 24 inches.  (This would be the case with most other brands.)  On a 50 foot lead, however, the diameter of the circle the Slasher makes might be 15 feet!  If this is your deepest downrigger set, this would be an asset but if you don't keep in mind the circle that the Slasher is making down there and try to run a clean spoon below it or alongside it, you can see what the results would be.  Basically, if you run it on a lead core or deep rigger you can let it do it's thing if you want, but if you want to run it back 50 feet alongside other baits, simply attach about an 8oz. drop sinker, bead chain sinker, or snap weight 8 to 10 feet ahead of the Slasher.  This will keep it rotating in approximately a 24 inch diameter circle regardless of how far back you want to run it, and prevent any tangles.

The Stinger Slasher rotates about 50% faster than most other flashers creating a completely different presentation of your baits.  It can be used with any squid, fly, cut bait rig and yes even spoons!  We had some great success last season with our Scorpion spoons attaches about 36 inches behind the Slasher and of course with our Stinger Fly also.  Each Slasher comes with instructions on the inside of the header card for ease of use.  Available in all the hottest new colors including our new silver glow finish.  Check them out today!

WHAT TRIGGERS TOP PREDATOR FISH TO STRIKE A BAITFISH!!

Species like trout, salmon, stripers, and many others make a living out of aggressively attacking schools of baitfish.  They will violently tumble through the school of bait thrashing whatever baitfish they encounter with their tail and body to stun or injure as many as possible, then swim back through and pick up the wounded one by one.  Our Stinger Slasher rotating flasher combined with the Stinger Fly was designed to take exact advantage of this feeding behavior.  The Stinger Slasher rotates and tumbles through the water giving the Stinger Fly a darting, unpredictable swimming action that the fish find irresistible.  (Your dealer may have available an underwater video showing the Stinger Slasher and Stinger Fly in action).  It is this unpredictable, erratic, out of the ordinary action that sets our Stinger Slasher apart from other rotating flashers that simply swim in a circle.

Rigging Tactics:

Fishing with the Stinger Slasher / Stinger Fly combination can be as simple or as involved as you want to make it.  For great results simply attach the set-up 5 feet behind the downrigger or 6-7 feet behind any diver.

Advanced Rigging Tactics:

Want your rotating flasher to travel in a larger circle thus covering more water?  You can't do it with conventional rotating flashers but with the Stinger Slasher all that is required is to attach it further behind the downrigger release, diver, or whatever device you are using.  The further back you run it, the larger area covered.  You must always keep in mind that when employing this tactic other lines in the same vicinity must be taken into consideration to avoid unnecessary tangles.

If you wish to use the Stinger Slasher further back from you downrigger release or maybe on a lead core far behind the boat but worry about tangles, merely attach an 8 oz. sinker of your choice the desired distance (6-8 feet perhaps) ahead of the Slasher keeping it contained and away from other lines.  We use the red offshore pinch pad releases attached to our sinkers for this purpose and when clamped tightly onto the line, will allow you to retain your sinker as opposed to dropping it in the lake as with a release device.

Other Advantages:

The Stinger Slasher has another advantage over other rotating flashers.  They can be hand tuned to your trolling speed if necessary.  A very slight increase in the bend at the tail will allow for extremely slow trolling speeds.  Be cautious here though a little added bend will have a big effect in the action.

One More Tip:

We have experienced excellent success in some cases experimenting with varying length leads behind our slide divers.  Sometimes setting our Slasher / Fly combos back 40 feet or more.  Some days this can be the difference between a heavy cooler and a skunk.

As you can see, these products have potential that goes beyond everything mentioned above so pick up a few of your favorite colors today and use you imagination a little.  We know you'll be impressed with re results!  We welcome any questions / comments you may have - 1-231-549-3640 and thank you for purchasing Michigan Stinger Products.
